I didn’t forget this week’s Ozimals Community Meeting! Aren’t you impressed? ^_^ Almost forgot to put my hair back on before I went tho!
Social Bun
There was no time for an Ozimals Oracle topic this week and instead, we got a huge look into Social Bun. You may recall my post “Social Bun – a Glimpse” which included several sneak peek pictures of the site released to us via the official Ozimals Orations & Updates group chat. Today, we got more information and lots and lots of pictures.
Because there are so many pictures, I am going to only show you a few within this post as I go through the list of images, giving a little information about each. Hopefully this isn’t too difficult to follow.
From the homepage, you can Search for bunnies that are for sale, see who’s online, check out the top visited bunnies, get current news and it’s also where all of the navigation to important Ozimals stuff is such as the link to the Forums, the Ozimals Flickr, Support, etc.
To get into Social Bun, you will need to visit a Verification Kiosk in world. It’s basically a sign that you will “touch” that will verify the connection between your avatar and your forum account name. The kiosk will generate a passkey which you will need in order to sign into the website for the first time.
2. My Bunnies Page
This page allows the owner to look at all of their bunnies and sort the view by whatever way they wish to view the data – by fur type or color, eyes, shade, etc.
You can set bunnies for sale and enter a SLurl for where the bunny is but there are limits to how many bunnies can be put up for sale. If the owner of the bunny changes after the listing, the bunny will automatically be de-listed.
3. Personal Profile Page / Personal Profile Page 2 / Privacy Settings
Your personal profile page works like any typical social networking site. You are provided with a space for your picture (up to 10) and a space to give information about yourself. It is also your central hub for the website – allowing you to list bunnies for sale, set up groups and events, add photos, view your friends and yes… even blog! There’s even a status changer which in this picture reads “Testing SocialBun!”
You’ll notice that there are two friend types – “Pals” and “Associates”. The difference is basically in the type of permissions you’d like someone to have. As an Associate, the user will have more permissions in viewing your stuff on the site. You will also have an optional busines profile that you can fill out if you want. On this page you will see your bunny’s information – Breed, color, eyes, ears, shade, bunny ID, birth date, location and more! You can sort through your bunnies by any trait and even seen bunnies that have been inactive for up to 14 days.
5. Bunny Verification (Step 1) / Bunny Verification (Step 2)
It will be possible to Verify a bunny’s information but it will cost you 5 Bunnybury coins per bunny to verify the information (Ozimals is exploring alternative payment options). The images show both steps to this process in which you input the information you claim about the bunny and then in step 2, agree to the 5 Bunnybury Coin cost. (Please note that the pictures currently use the word ‘Certify’ and this is being changed to ‘Verify’ for grammar’s sake).
Verification is not required and you only have to do it once – then the bunny is verified forever. This means if someone purchases your verified bunny, they do not have to spend the coins to verify it again. Verification is the only way your bunny’s profile will show its parent’s information (as seen in Profile of a Bunny (From Owner’s Perspective) 2).
First Generation Verified bunnies do not show parent information because they are the product of Oz.
6. Create Social Bun Badge / Social Network Sharing / Shared Bunny on Facebook
Everybody loves to share! ^_~ You will have the ability to create a Social Bun Badge – an HTML based badge that you can post on your personal sites – blogs, MySpace, etc in order to show your latest information for a bunny. This information refreshes every 12 hours.
And of course, what Social network would be complete without the ability to share your stuff to other social networks such as Twitter, FaceBook, Plurk and more!? You can send information about the bunnies you have for sale straight to any social network on the web!
7. Partnership
You have the ability to add a Partner on the site. This partnership isn’t necessarily romantic (although you can treat it that way). It’s also good for business partners!
Vendor Reward System
The long awaited vendor reward system will be a bit longer as Ozimald squishes some more buggies. There are 2 versions of the vendor available – large (11 prim) and small (7 prim).
Initially, Ozimals was going to refund our money upon purchase of the 10th product, but this opens the door for a lot of problems given Second Life’s infrastructure. Instead, when you buy the 9th item, the 10th will also be delivered. It’s much easier and there’s less potential for problems.
Due to possible money exploits because of a Second Life bug, Ozimals will have to personally rez the vendors themselves for us to make it impossible for others to reset the vendor’s scripts. The vendors are public and anyone can use them. Everyone has their own count, so no matter which vendor you use, it will recognize you and know when to send you your 10th free product.
Many markets and/or landlords may have rules (or want to set rules) regarding these vendors and should let Ozimals know ahead of time. If you find that you have a vendor on land you own that you do not want, you just have to return the object.
Bunnybury
Due to other projects this week, Ozimals got a bit less time on Bunnyburry than they had hoped, and so will likely not be taking next steps on Bunnybury this week.
